LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Darnell Wright helped Tennessee re-emerge as a national power. And the Chicago Bears hope the feisty blocker can do something similar for them.Chicago selected the Tennessee offensive tackle with the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night, giving quarterback Justin Fields more protection after trading back one spot with Philadelphia.“That’s what I’m here for is for anything he needs,” Wright said. “That’s my job to keep him clean. Amazing. Amazing quarterback and the things he does, we’re going to have a great team.”He said he was “in shock” and that his mind was “racing 1,000 miles per hour.” But he also expressed confidence.“I’m big and I’m strong,” Wright said. “But I don’t think people will realize once they really get to see some more of me, they’ll see how athletic I am and that I can play both sides as needed. I know I’m coming into a room. I just wanna earn the respect of those guys first. But I can play probably any...Seahawks take Witherspoon at No. 5; Smith-Njigba at No. 20

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks continued the overhaul of their defense, selecting Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon with the No. 5 pick of the NFL draft on Thursday night. Despite edge rusher Tyree Wilson and defensive tackle Jalen Carter still on the board, the Seahawks opted to solidify their cornerback position a year after Seattle spent two draft picks on cornerbacks in Tariq Woolen and Coby Bryant. Seattle came back with the No. 20 pick and grabbed another offensive playmaker for quarterback Geno Smith selecting Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the first wide receiver taken in the draft. Witherspoon was regarded as one of the top two cornerbacks in the draft despite being slightly undersized from what Seattle has opted for in the past with players at the position. Witherspoon blossomed in his final season at Illinois where he was the Big Ten defensive back of the year, had three interceptions and 17 passes defensed. “I’m energetic, physical.
