Sophie Turner can take kids back to England and have them for Christmas under interim agreement

Sophie Turner can take kids back to England and have them for Christmas under interim agreement Sophie Turner and Joe Turner have reached a temporary agreement regarding their two young daughters, which allows the “Game of Thrones” star to take the girls with her to England this month and to have them over the Christmas holidays. On the face of it, this interim custody agreement sounds favorable to Turner, who at one point was being negatively portrayed by Jonas’ P.R. team as an immature, absentee, hard-partying mother while he was left to be their primary caregiver. The agreement basically has the girls, ages 3 and 15 months, splitting time between the two parents through the beginning of next year, People reported. The agreement was reached after a “productive” four-day mediation session last week, People reported. The mediation was designed to cool off the heated rhetoric and aggressive legal tactics that had been coming from both sides in the past month.Under the terms of the agreement, Turner will care for the girls through Oct. 21, during whi...

EU warns Musk about penalties for misinformation on X By Brian Fung and Donie O’Sullivan | CNNEuropean officials warned X on Tuesday that the company formerly known as Twitter appears to have been hosting misinformation and illegal content about the war between Hamas and Israel, in potential violation of the European Union’s signature content moderation law.In a letter addressed to X owner Elon Musk, Thierry Breton, a top European commissioner, said X faces “very precise obligations regarding content moderation” and that the company’s handling of the unfolding conflict so far has raised doubts about its compliance. As a platform subject to Europe’s Digital Services Act (DSA), X could face billions in fines if regulators conclude that violations have occurred. X didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The warning letter highlights X’s potentially vast legal exposure as it battles a wave of bogus claims linked to the war that have been attributed to everything from fake White House press releases to false news reports an...

Pac-12 women’s basketball: Stanford Cardinal a contender as usual, but not picked to win conference’s final regular season title Stanford has dominated Pac-12 women’s basketball for nearly four decades and figures to be in the title hunt once again, but the Cardinal is not the favorite to win the conference’s final regular season championship. The Cardinal has been picked by both the Pac-12 coaches and the media to finish third this season, behind Utah and UCLA.This is the first time in four years coach Tara VanDerveer’s group hasn’t been picked as Pac-12’s preseason favorite by the coaches, and it’s just the sixth time it’s happened since the 2000-01 season. The Cardinal was the coaches’ preseason choice (often the easy one) for 15 straight years beginning in 2000-01, and then was No. 2 for five straight preseasons from 2015-16 through 2019-20.Stanford has won 26 regular season titles and 15 conference tournament championships, by far the most of any Pac-12 team, but is coming off a season that saw the Cardinal miss the Pac-12 Tournament championship game for the first time since 2016. Harry and Meghan get NYPD escort for their World Mental Health Day event Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may no longer serve the British royal family, but they arrived at their World Mental Health Day event in New York City Tuesday like minor heads of state, riding in a fleet of seven blacked-out SUVs and escorted by a marked New York City Police Department vehicle. Its possible that the California-based Duke and Duchess of Sussex took extra security precautions with their transport around Manhattan Tuesday because they felt grievously threatened by paparazzi during their last trip to the Big Apple in May, to the extent they made notoriously disputed claims that “aggressive” photographers forced them into a “near-catastrophic” car chase that put the lives of themselves and others at risk. For their arrival Tuesday at the World Mental Health Day Festival, there appeared to be none of the “chaos” that NYPD officials said accompanied the couple’s last visit. The Daily Mail reported that their seven-vehicle convoy also ...

GOP appears no closer to picking a new House leader By Lisa Mascaro and Kevin Freking | Associated PressWASHINGTON — The House Republican majority is stuck, one week after the ouster of Speaker Kevin McCarthy, with lawmakers unable to coalesce around a new leader in a stalemate that threatens to keep Congress partly shuttered indefinitely. On Tuesday evening, two leading contenders for the gavel, Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, were scheduled to address colleagues behind closed doors at a candidate forum, but they appeared to be splitting the vote.McCarthy, meanwhile, was openly ready to reclaim the gavel he just lost, but was seen by many as a longshot option unlikely to win back the handful of hardliners who just ousted him.“This has been going on for days. Members want to come together,” Scalise said late Monday at the Capitol. “We’ve got to get back on track.”House Republicans took the majority aspiring to operate as a team, and run government more business-like, but h...
